What is a good all around diet plan for weight loss?

I have been doing a ton of research and am coming up with things like "cut out carbs and sugars" and "stay away from starches". What I would really like is a list or a site that has a list of do eat and don't eat foods so that I can put it together. Any suggestions?

  1. i’ve done the "no calorie limit, 6 meals a day"

cause it’s 6 meals, i don’t wanna get stuffed with the first meal, so i need to eat a little, and every 2 hours.

Anything you want (besides the obvious million calories per bite foods) just a little, every 2 hours and never eat till stuffed.

made my metabolism rocket skyhigh and i dropped 20 pounds in a month. Some walking is necessary.

No need for lists and such, it will just make you either get obsessive or OCD or anorexic.

  2. For fast results try to incorporate high fiber, high protein foods in your diet (kashi golean cereal great example) along with the right ammounts of fats (30% of your calories) and a decent ammount of complex carbohydrates. This will help speed metabolism which will help you burn fat and gain muscle. For exercises try to mix it up a little. Maybe on tuesdays and thursdays 2 mile jog or other cardio and on wednesdays mondays and fridays do weight lifting/ swimming…etc. This would help with optimal health as well as helping you lose weight in a healthy manner and NOT gain it back

  3. I love the book "Eat this Not that"

  4. you should eat at least 4-5 meals a day.

drink lots of water, and eat regularly. don’t starve yourself, because once you start eating again, you’ll gain everything back, trust me.

eat lots of fruits and veggies, and if you eat bread, make sure it’s whole grain. white bread is pretty fattening. you can also eat lean meats, like fish, turkey and chicken breast. eggs also help when trying to lose weight.

skip out on sweets, candy, sugary foods, chips, ice cream, cake, and cookies.

if you feel hungry, but don’t want to over eat, chew gum. it’ll keep your mouth busy and it tricks yourself into thinking your eating.

cut out ALL soda! if you stop drinking soda, it helps you out a lot!
    and don’t forget to exercise!

try walking, jogging, jump rope, dancing, crunches, bike riding and swimming. try exercising for 45-80 minutes a day.
    good luck!

  5. I have lost about 30 pounds in the last year and here is how I did it.

For the most part I eat what I want but I really started to watch what I eat. I realized that I ate a lot more junk food than I realized. I thought I was good and healthy but I wasnt. You do need to cut out carbs and sugars and eat fruits and vegetables and proteins. Here is a sample of my typical meals for a couple of days.

    Day 1
Breakfast: Bowl of shredded mini wheats with skim milik
Snack: handfull of nuts and a couple of squares of the hersheys dark chocolate (water)
Lunch: I usually eat out for lunch so I eat whatever… for ex. Taco Bell I get a soft taco and chicken gordita baja with a coke.
    Snack: fruit of some sort
Dinner: black beans, rice and chicken

Day 2 (snacks are usually the same)
Breakfast: Whole Wheat Bagel with Cream Cheese
Lunch: left overs from the night before
Dinner: chicken tomato soup (boil some chicken, cook with maggi brand tomatoe seasoning cube, canned tomatoes and water)

    Day 3
    Breakfast: Fiber One Muffins (2)
Lunch: eat out or left overs (always if I eat out I skip the fries)
Dinner: Rice, beans, plantains, tomatoe and avacado

I try to only have a desert once a week versus several times a week like before. I eat slowly and dont stuff myself. If I snack on something other than listed its something like wheat thins or string cheese. To drink I like to make Limeaid (1 glass is 1 lime squeezed and 2 packets of splenda and fill the cup with water and mix) its really good. You can do that with lemons too. Or you can really make any type of natural fruit juice most other fruits wont need the splenda. Its so much healthier than soft drinks and it tastes better.

Healthy choices: lots of beans and chicken (use spices and not marinades to cut out calories), any fruits and veggies. Make your own juices. Limit intake of candies and breads. Same as what you already know :) Something I like to do is eat a little bit of ice-cream with banana so I have something healthy and Im not eating as much ice-cream. My husband taught me that.

I really hope this helps :)

  6. Well think of weight loss like this

    1 pound of fat= 3,500 calories

So if you want to loose weight all you need to do is burn off this 3,500 calorie number either by dieting or exercising or better yet by both.

Whether you cut out this or that doesn’t matter what matters is you need to reduce your calories and the best way to do that is by dieting and exericsing

The so called rapid weight loss diet is one of the closest things to a crash diet. One description of a rapid weight loss diet is this – A crash diet is a diet which is extreme in its deprivations – typically severely restricting calorie intake. Meant to achieve rapid weight loss, a crash diet differs from outright starvation only slightly. Crash diets are typically unhealthy and are rarely – if ever – recommended by doctors or dietitians. Crash diets may lead to malnutrition.

When someone discontinues a crash diet, the "rebound-effect" is often experienced. This causes a person to eat far more than normal, causing them to regain both the weight that was recently lost due to the diet as well as additional weight. This is caused by an evolutionary trait of the human race that historically only took effect in times of famine: after a famine ended, people’s bodies naturally craved to regain both the weight that was lost, plus additional weight as well, in order to protect themselves in case of another famine.

I think it’s apparant that this type of diet is not in most peoples best interest. Let’s take it a little further. It has been observed that some crash dieting or rapid weight loss can lead to Anorexia. This is defined by a loss of appetite or lack of desire to eat.

When people experience appetite loss, decreased energy consumption will subsequently lead to weight loss. When inadequate calories are consumed, the body may become weaker and less able to tolerate many chalenges. As body weight decreases, cachexia sets in, and a general failure to thrive may make it more difficult to fight off illness and infection. A poor response to cancer treatments, reduced quality of life, and death may result from substantial weight loss. The spiraling effect of a patient’s reluctance to eat is a source of frequent anxiety for caregivers. Weight loss due to anorexia may be temporary or may continue at a life-threatening pace if the patient continues to consume inadequate energy to sustain body weight.

The most commonly known form of anorexia is satiation following the consumption of food. This can happen in all normal humans and is known as postprandial anorexia. It’s important and healthy as it prevents overeating and of course obesity. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by voluntary starvation and exercise stress. Anorexia nervosa is a complex disease, involving psychological and sociological components.

Needless to say, it is important to ensure that if you decide to take on a diet, make sure it is healthy and can supply the nutrients people need to carry on life in a healthy and vigorous manner. One of the most highly praised diets existing to day is the Mediterranean diet mostly due to its history and the formal research that has been undertaken. It is well worth your while to look into this particlular diet further if you have the slightest doubt about undertaking a rapid weight loss diet.
