weight loss diet for young teens…..?

im 13, 5'4, and 150 lbs. my sister is almost 16, 5'5, and 190lbs. Our doctor told us we were both overweight and that we should see a nutritionist. My mom agreed but never took us to see one. im not fat, im solid, but i should drop 10 pounds.
my sister doesnt care about her weight. she eats all this unhealthy food and ive tried to stop her. one day shes realized hre unhealthiness and said she was going to start dieting. how long did it last? 2 days.

so, its summer for me( no school) and ive been dieting for a week.
i eat:
morning- serving of strawberry oatmeal (140 cal)...an orange, and 3 glasses of water.
and throughout the day i eat fruits as snacks and saltine crackers when i get hungry.
i exercise for 15 minutes usually every other day. but ive seen no results and i'll probably give up soon. how long will it take for me to lose weight?
how should me and my sister lose weight?
how can i get her to go on a diet and exercise?

  2. Honestly, you need to exercise more than fifteen minutes every other day. I’m losing weight this summer, so I don’t snack and get an hour of exercise a day. It’s coming along fine. I weigh 120 lbs
    (5′4" or 5′5") and will weigh 115 lbs by the end of the summer. I lose a pound a week, so if you follow this it should be about that. But keep in mind, if you’re heavier, your metabolism slows down, so you may have to eat less.

  3. you need to eat lunch too, and a small dinner. Exercise for longer than 15 minutes, but you don’t have to do just running. Running up stairs, swimming, cycling, intervals, etc. Also exercise everyday, not every other. Only 1 rest day, like Sunday or something.
    Also don’t expect to see results after just one week, it’s healthiest to just lose a few pounds per week.

  4. I think you should lay back on the crackers and try to focus more on the vegetables. make sure you get some protein. and you need to excercise more. even 30 minutes a day would suffice. You’re sister should get a job when she turns 16 and that should help her. Only drink water. get your calcium from cheese and yogurt and stuff like that (no ice cream) dont eat a lot of sugar and get fiber (it will make you eat less)

  5. I’m 13 and I tried to lose weight too.I am 121lb (5 foot 8)and I lost 12 lb of fat (I weigh myself in the morning) and it took 8 weeks. II know, it can be tough but you can probably be able to lose 1lb a week. I eat oatmeal in the morning too haha (peaches and cream!) and drink a lot of water. My goal everyday is to try to take in 1400 calories. I also tried to get rid of any possible high calorie junk food within reach so I wont be tempted.

    If you make small changes everyday and work it into your life, you’ll see results in no time!:)

  6. if you want to lose weight you need to do about 20 minutes of cardio anything to get your heart pumping at least 60-80 percent of your max heart rate to find out your max heart rate take 220 minus your age your doing good with your meals it takes awhile for you to see results it takes 3,500 calories to burn a pound try this website out he help me lose 50lbs already and he has a teen workout on it http://scoobysworkshop.com/ if you need any help let me know

    You can’t make your sister want to lose weight. Pushing her will just push her away.

  8. ok well im in the same situation but here’s what your doing wrong. did you know that saltine crackers are pretty much just sugar? and that if you eat to many fruits its not healthy because they do have natural sugars?? you should also exercise about 30min per day. your break fest is a good choice though!! what you need to do is NOT DIET!! you just need to eat healthier. i recommend eating about 1,500 cal. a day and of course exercise for about 30min daily. cardio is good(running swimming) but you should also do strength training as well(such as push ups) this will help. when trying to lose weight you should eat about1,000-1,500 cal. a day. these cal. should be spread out into five small meals. you should always eat a bigger meal in the morning if your going to have a big meal. this is a common misconception, people eat small break fest medium lunch and a bigger dinner. THIS IS BAD!!! you should eat more food in the morning and less in the evening. think about it…..in the morning you eat a big break fest then you have all day to burn it off!!! if you eat a larger dinner then you go to sleep, your metoblism slows down and it goes into fat mode…get what im saying??? so eat healthy when you go out!!! instead of fries, get a salad instead!!! you might love it!!! and if you normally eat to much at a restruant tell your family beforehand to make sure that you don’t eat alot. eat an appetizer instead of a main meal or something off the kids menu(normally smaller servings) as to your sister. you should try to get here to try new and good foods that are also healthy, ask her to go to the gym with you or on a run…if this doesn’t work forget her and work towards YOUR goal!! when she sees how good you look she will want to do the same thing that you did and lose weight!!! when this happens you can help her….as to pounds YOU SHOULD LOSE ONLY 1 TO 2 POUNDS A WEEK!!!!! THIS IS THE HEALTHY WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT!!!!
