Male Weight Loss/Diet?
I'm on 5'3 short for a guy, and around 150-165. I have a stocky build. I was wondering what things I can do to get to a lower weight. I know i need to eat right and things, but I'm in college, and money is sort of low, Most of time. I'm thinking of going to Atlethic Center, the college has, but I wouldn't no where to start. Or what to really do. I think I get the dreade Freshmen 15 last semester.
What things can I do to promote weight loss, what foods should I stop eating, what should I educate myslef on. What things to drink. etc etc, if you have any suggestion or tips, they would be very much welcomed.
I do smoke, but its occasional, I not addicated to it or anything, I've heard that smoking does help in preventing weight gain, Is that true?

Smoking actually increases wieght gain. Because you are not utilizing oxygen (the only thing that breaksdown calories into energy). However, since people have used smoking to apease their hand to mouth fixation, they replace it with snacks. Instead, try taking up a musical instrument. It cures that hand to mouth fixation and enhances your mind…and could even get you a part time gig in a bar for that extra money you seem to be low on. Visit your local music store and ask about student rates on instrument rental and lessons. They have great rates! Plus in your practice, you won’t be eating extra, and you’ll be buring lots of calories.
Try to not STUFF yourself at mealtime, just eat until you’re not hungry anymore. When you have an urge to eat, just have a big glass of water. Hunger goes away after about 15 min anyway. Water contains oxygen, which helps burn calories too.

First of all, smoking doesnt prevent weight loss unless you are trying to quit, some people gain weight when they quit because they replace food w/ cigarettes. I quit smoking and didn’t gain weight though so it really just depends on the person.
You’re young and a guy, so you have both of those things going for you.
I wouldn’t worry too much about what you eat instead of how much you eat. Listen to your body while your eating and quit when ur no longer hungry. if you feel "stuffed" after eating u’ve eaten way too much. Just start jogging and walking. Cut out sugar from your diet and drink lots of water. Do those things and u should be fine.
Can’t do anything about ur height, we’re stuck with that.

Try this free website where you can track your calories eaten and burned through exercise and also get support from chat boards with other members called http://www.sparkpeople.com
It’s an excellent resource, full of good tips, tools and advice and even shows demonstrations of proper exercise and strength training techniques and it really got me motivated after years of demotivation. I don’t what it was about this site, but I’ve been exercising nearly everyday since I started it.
I’ve lost 10 lbs so far, been on it for 2.5 weeks!
