I have been on the south beach diet since monday.. hardly any weight loss ??

Today is day 4. I have been following the suggested menus and cooking their recipes to the T. I have only lost .6 pds in 3 days. On top of that I feel bloated and my stomach hurts..I have also been walking about 30 to 45 mn daily. Why so LITTLE weight loss ? The diet promises up to 10 lbs in phase one. What has been your experience? is this normal? I am very discouraged.
I am 5' 3'' - I weigh 137.2 - my goal is 125.

    The misconception is that if you barely eat anything AND work out, you’ll lose weight. It’s might be true, BUT very dangerous/harmful to the body system because if you don’t have enough energy to do the work out, then you’re going to wear your body out and pretty soon, you may end up in a hospital bed.

    What you should do is change your eating habit to a healthier one and start exercising (people tell you this over and over because it WORKS!).

    Disclaimer: I don’t recommend any diet to you or anyone, but I just wanted to share my experience. You should talk to your nutritionist/doctor before making any drastic changes to your body.

    What I did was I went on an "eating-only-corn-flakes" diet. xD I lost the weight really quickly (~25 lbs). After a 2-3 weeks of eating only corn flakes with regular milk for breakfast/lunch/dinner (NO snacks whatsoever). (You can try it with skim, 1%, or 2% milk to lose even more weight.) I went off the diet and started eating normal, and healthy foods, with A LOT of water and tons of fruits. I’m able to keep off the weight I’ve lost for ~6 years now. At summer camp, I’ve also went on a cereal-salad-and-skim milk "diet". For breakfast, I would only eat grain cereal with skim milk and drink another glass. For lunch and dinner each day, I had only a salad and two glasses of skim milk per meal. Camp was only 5 days, but I lost a considerable amount of weight for my father to notice my weight loss. xD

    Currently, I’ve been exercising. I have an "air-stepper" at home, and I get on it for 15 minutes each day to get my cardio workout. I take my pulse at 5 min. intervals for 15 minutes to see if I’m improving. ^_^ Then, I get on my Total Gym and start working on my arms and legs (pulling, pushing, etc.). To tone my abs, I do 200 crunches; they are much easier than sit-ups. ^_^ Lastly, I do 100 of those "standing-up" crunches. I don’t know what to call them, but I saw it on Hip-Hop Abs.     The lay down crunches and the standing up crunches that I do gave me the flat stomach I have now. ^____^ Very happy with the results. You can do as many as your body can tolerate for ONE day and feel your stomach flatter immediately afterwards (at least for me)! It’s incredible!

    If you do not have gym equipment, just jumping around and running place for 15-30 minutes will get you your cardio workout. Eat yogurt, fruits, and other health foods. Drink tons of water and your daily dosage of milk. ^_^

  4. It hasn’t even been a full four days. Relax, it will start coming off soon. It’s way too early to be disappointed.

  5. seriously all diets make you fatter in the long run, research it its true..

  6. Give it time, you will probably all of a sudden drop a large amount of weight like up to 4 ibs! Don’t give up sometimes our bodies take a little while to show the weight loss

  7. I would try exercising more. You’ll probably see better results than expected. Keep eating lots of veggies also

  8. It is unhealthy to lose weight at a rate of more than about 10 lbs per month.

    If you were already losing weight that would actually be a cause for CONCERN.

  9. Be patient. Keep it up and you will lose weight. 6 lb in 3 days is a healthy amount – really 1-2 lb a week is healthy, and you are above that. Diets promise lots of things. Few deliver. I think you are on the right track. Just stick with it.

  10. I had friends who did south beach and it took them about a week or so before the results showed. Your body is trying to adjust. Also you will not lose as fast as a lot of the people who have tried since you don’t really have a lot to lose. Stick with it and Good Luck!!

  11. I’ve never had a problem with my weight, but I know that loosing more then about 4lbs a week can be very bad for your health because it takes so many vitamins and minerals to loose all that. So don’t stress, 6lbs in three days is ALOT!

  13. Frankly, I think you should drop the diet, and just try good ‘ol plain exercise and eating what you want in moderation . Talk to a nutrionist and they can find out how many calories you need a day and how much you need to burn.

    You should eat all foods- including carbohydrates. You need some. If you start that way, it will be slower, but you will keep the weight off for good.

  14. 6 pounds in three days is great – that’s 12 pounds in one week if the trend continues, and the "up to 10 pounds in Phase One" is over a two week period.

    For the bloat, make sure you’re eating plenty of fiber and drinking plenty of water.

    You’re doing great on the walking, and the weight loss is above average. Just keep it up!

  15. If you just started exercising a lot more than normal then you are probably gaining muscle and losing fat.

  16. You can not expect the same results as everyone else. Our bodies are different. Don’t you know that they tell you these things to keep you coming back to purchase there products. Be patient, and stick to your plan. You did not pick up the weight over night and you are not going to loose it over night.

  17. Both myself and my wife went on the SB diet and had differing results. I lost 30lbs and dropped from a waist size of 38 to 34 within 2 months. My wife on the other hand, didn’t loose weight as quickly as I. Her weight loss finally seemed to kick in after about a month.
    A followed a regular workout routine that included walking 3 to 5 miles per day. My wife did not exercise.
    Bottom line, the SB diet worked on both of us, but it took longer for my wife to notice results. By the way, the SB diet is not meant to be so much a temporary "fix" as it is a life style change. It sounds like you find the diet a hardship to follow. It that is the case, you most likely will gain back what you lose. The only time a diet is really affective is when you decide to change your life and not just your waistline.

    AND
    its unhealthy to lose more than 1/2 to 1 pound a day!
    so, ur loosing a lot of wieght now anywhooz
    my advice:get off of the diet and loose the wieght the old fashioned way!
