Does running 3 miles a day help with weight loss?
Would running 3 miles a day (followed by a healthy diet) every day of the week help with weight loss? Is 3 miles enough or should I aim for more?
Thanks!

YES, it would. Running is a GREAT aerobic/cardio workout! That plus a healthy diet is the best way to lose weight. One warning though – it’s not recommended to exercise every day of the week, it’s not good for your body. You should give yourself one or two days off per week.
And three miles is a good distance too. It’s not so long as to be impractical for every day life but it’s not so short that you’ve barely started before you’re finished.
Remember, for it to be an areobic workout you have to be able to breath! Breathing is THE most important part of running. Taking long deep breaths will help prevent getting a stitch in your side. Also, run fast enough to be working hard but don’t run so fast that you can’t do the three miles.

Yes three miles is enough running to lose weight. if you are just starting out maybe you shouldnt start at three miles a day.

I think that anytime you can work out with a nice cardiovascular exercise for over 35 mins, you will lose weight. In reality, a calorie is a calorie and in your first 30 mins you’re typically just buring off what you ate. After the first 30 mins you begin to burn fat.

Well..it can and it can’t. It depends on your body’s limit. Because if you work your body too hard, you’ll stop burning fat and start burning muscle instead.
Also, keep in mind you might lose weight and then gain some if you do this, because you’ll burn off your fat and gain muscle- which weighs more than fat.

3 miles is a good goal to work up to, over a few weeks of running. This is an excellent distance for keeping fit also. If you run 3 miles every day you risk injury. You need to give your body a day of rest in between runs. You can safely run one day and then walk the next day. Alternate run/walk days, and try to take a day off from this type of exercise. If you run everyday you will probably get shin splints, which is painful but not real serious.
It is common that when you do some exercise everyday you get Burnt out and then stop all together. Try throwing a bike ride in there or a swim and weights are good also.
If 3 miles every other day is not enough try a longer distance but slow the speed. If you exercise for a long period of time this is when the fat starts to burn. If you run hard and fast you will build muscle, but the fat burning is not as good as at slower speeds, with an elevated heart rate.
