Weight Loss Question and Answer Weight Loss Answers

Can you please give me your opinion on my weight loss plan/diet?

This may be a little detailed for some but can you please bear with me as i really would like some honest opinions.

I slowly put on weight during my final years of school because i stopped sports to study and my eating habits did slip to being unhealthy.

My weight has been the same for about a year.

I'm female, 18 and 167cm.

I have been working full time for 7 months (earning money for uni). I work an average of 50 hrs a wk. my weight has remained constant over that time even though i have been off and on trying to eat healthy and exercise more. it has actually dropped 3 kgs since i left school. BUT i have noticed that i've lost muscle tone and put on fat on my stomach. this is because i find it hard to put exercise into my day given that 2-3 dys a wk i leave home at 7.15 am and get back at 9.15pm... with an hrs break between jobs in between. i am also prone to eating badly sometimes.

So anyway... too now.

I started the meal replacement diet optifast 5 days ago. I was 78kgs and now i am 73kgs. My diet consists of:

1/2 cup (uncooked) of porridge, made with water.
3x cups green tea
2x optifast shakes
2x cups raw vegetables
about 1.5L water from the tap

which is exactly what the optifast diet recommends minus 2 tsps oil (because i don't cook the vegetables)

i feel okay but i am concerned at the rate of weight loss 1kg each day seems extreme to me. it makes me happy but i wonder if i am damaging my body?

i know that people regain the weight after going on these crash diets but i am confident that i will not because i know how to eat well and i have made a decision to ditch the foods which i know were making me fat and also my working hrs are being reduced so i will have more time to exercise (i love bike riding and lifting weights).

the quick results and convenience of this diet have made me more determined, positive and happy with myself. because i have been able to stick to the diet so far i feel more confident in my willpower. i feel like my attitude to eating has changed for the better. my friend even said that i sounded completely different and determined about my weight than ever before. i believe and have planned on eating right after i go off the shakes and having already lost weight i know that i don't need to eat bad food (where as before i would just say 'what the heck' and just eat it even though i know its not healthy).

BUT after reading reviews on the internet i am concerned that its dangerous to do this diet. what is your opinion? I would appreciate it if you read the entire thing before giving a serious answer. thank you very much in advance to any serious answerers.

  1. I do feel that your diet is much too low on calories and that is not particularly healthy for you. Your body will go into starvation mode and get used to managing on a very small amount of calories to try to preserve your internal organs from too much damage and when you start eating agin you will regain weight even if you are eating a healthier reduced calorie diet.
with these dieting shakes the optimum is to have 2 shakes a day plus a health main meal so that your calorie intake is around 1000 a day – yoors is more like 500 which is way too low.
If you are now mor motivated and able to control, your eating I would advise you to start slowly increasing you daily claories until you get to the 800-1000 mark, then when you reach your goal weight you can start slowly increase the calories again.
Very low calorie diets mean you body has to feed off its muscle as well as fat to get enough energy to sustain life and this includes muscles from your heart – over a period of time you can seriously undermine your long term health.
I would like to be a bit more positive and congratulate you on sorting out your weight and giving up junk food, well done for that, but dont substitute one bad eating plan with another – learn to live healthily and well and actively for long term enjoyable health.

  2. hi,

since last two years i was also facing the same problem of getting extra weigh even doing hours of work daily but all in vain. i used so many diet plans, exercises and so many precautions but did not get result. then one of my colleague advice me to dont waste the time and money. He showed me real example to control the weight even eating everything. i first refused him then after thinking i decided to get information about that. then i log in to site http://www.mikegearytruthaboutabsreviews.com/. and after using these techniques i am happy now and enjoying my life.

  3. Hey there. Well first of all, it’s good that u are taking a concern in your health. However, you want to make sure that u provide ur body with the proper nutrients it needs. You also can’t neglect the fact that a body needs exercise. You’re now in the same boat as most working people – no time to fuel your body the way it needs to be.

I would recommend Shakeology. It’s a meal replacement that has so much good stuff in it. It helps cleanse you and gives u the energy you need to make it thru the day.

I would also recommend the 10 minute trainer. It’s a work out program designed for people with a busy schedule like yourself.
